About WholeHouseGeneratorCost.com
An independent reference for the cost of whole-house standby generators in the US: equipment, installation, fuel-line work, automatic transfer switch, permits and ongoing maintenance. Operated by Digital Signet, founded by Oliver Wakefield-Smith.
The reason this site exists
Whole-house generator pricing varies by 3x for nominally similar systems: a Generac Guardian 22kW install can run anywhere from $9k to $20k+ depending on fuel-line scope, ATS class, electrical-panel readiness and local permit cost. Most top-ranking pages are written by national dealers or lead-aggregators angling for the form fill. This site exists to publish defensible cost bands by generator size and install scope with the assumption set behind each.

About Digital Signet, the operator
This site is operated by Digital Signet, an independent AI-development studio founded by Oliver Wakefield-Smith. It is part of a portfolio of consumer cost-reference and calculator sites we run as a live R&D lab for our Signet methodology, an autonomous AI development team that ships real software at scale.
Digital Signet does not sell generators, does not act as a Generac / Kohler / Cummins dealer, does not run a generator install practice, and does not accept paid placements from any generator manufacturer or dealer-network. Editorial direction is set by Oliver. Drafts are produced via Digital Signet's autonomous AI development methodology and reviewed against the editorial framework before publication.

Editorial principles and disclosures
- Source pattern. Built on public reference material across the relevant publisher landscape.
- No paid placements. Does not sell generators, does not act as a Generac / Kohler / Cummins dealer, does not run a generator install practice, and does not accept paid placements from any generator manufacturer or dealer-network. Independent of every named third party in the relevant space.
- Math is documented inline. Where the site has a calculator, inputs and assumptions are visible on the calculator page. Nothing is hidden behind opaque scoring.
- Update only when underlying reality changes. Triggers: Manufacturer announces a published list-price change; Major hurricane / wildfire / grid-resilience season that materially shifts demand and pricing; Material movement in published electrician / gas-line install day rates over a 12-month sample; Updated NEC / IRC code requirements affecting generator install scope.
